Colon Settle helps clients with a wide variety of
legal needs. He is a partner with Inkster Christie
Hughes LLP and sits as the Chairman of the firm’s
Elder
Law Practice Group. He conducts a general practice
with present emphasis on estate planning, estate
administration, real estate, general corporate,
business and financial matters.
Mr. Settle received his Bachelor of Arts degree
in 1954 from United College (University of Winnipeg)
where he did postgraduate work. He attended the
University of Manitoba Law School and articled to
Norman Clague Christie, Q.C., a founder of the present
firm. He graduated with honours, was called to the
Bar in 1959 and was admitted as a partner with Christie
DeGraves MacKay & Settle in 1963 and has been
a partner in all subsequent amalgamations of this
firm.
Mr. Settle was appointed a Queen’s Counsel
for the Province of Manitoba in 1974.
He has appeared before Manitoba Courts at all levels,
the Federal Court Trial Division and various Provincial
and Federal administrative tribunals.
A member of the Manitoba and Canadian Bar Association
he has participated in various committees. Mr. Settle
is past Chairman of The Family Law Subsection and
the Wills and Estates Subsection and has been a
lecturer to the Bar Administration students on various
matters. Most recently, he has served as a member
of the Manitoba Public Insurance Appeals Commission.
