Jacob D. Giesbrecht is a partner with the firm Inkster Christie Hughes LLP. His preferred areas of practice involve him in matters relating to employment and labour issues (union side), estate planning, estate administration and the structuring and implementation of trusts.

He is a member of the Wills and Estates Section of the Manitoba Bar Association, is a member of the Labour Law Section of the Manitoba Bar Association, a member of the Civil Litigation Section of the Manitoba Bar Association and a member of the Tax Law Section of the Manitoba Bar Association. He is also a member of the Estate Planning Council of Winnipeg.

Mr. Giesbrecht has fought successfully for his clients at all levels of the court in Manitoba, including the Manitoba Court of Appeal and the Federal Court of Appeal. He is frequently engaged to represent clients before arbitration boards and the Manitoba Labour Board. He is currently lecturing part time at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law, teaching the Law of Trusts to second and third year law students. He has lectured and led seminars on a variety of topics to a number of groups including the Bar Admission Program for Manitoba, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and to students at Red River Community College. He has written a book entitled “Manitoba Estate Administration” that is published in electronic format and is available through the use of the legal data base Westlawecarswell. He co-authored a series of papers on the Estate Planning Implications of Manitoba common-law rights legislation that has been presented to the members of the Manitoba Bar Association and for the Law Society of Manitoba.

He is actively involved in the community, having worked for and serving on a number of committees for organizations active in the disability and antipoverty communities in Winnipeg.
